El Roblar
by Germán Peña
Colombia Huila
About the Producer:
Germán Peña is a second-generation coffee farmer from Suaza, Huila. His 3.5-hectare farm, El Roblar, is located in the village of Bajo Fátima at 1,800 meters above sea level. He cultivates Caturra, Bourbon, and Tabi across 3 hectares, with the help of his family. Germán’s journey started with a small piece of land from his father, and through years of dedication and improved practices, he has grown a thriving farm focused on high-quality coffee.
Processing Method:
This lot was processed using a washed method with meticulous attention to detail:
- Ripe cherries are handpicked and floated in tubs to sort by density.
- They are fermented in hoppers for 12 hours, then depulped without water.
- Fermentation continues for 24 more hours before drying under a covered structure (marquesina).
About the Region:
Suaza, Huila lies in one of Colombia’s premier coffee-growing areas. With altitudes reaching 1800 meters and nutrient-rich soils, the region produces vibrant, high-acidity coffees with distinct fruit and floral characteristics.
Why We Love This Coffee:
El Roblar showcases a beautiful balance of elegance and complexity. Its floral aroma and layered fruit notes make it a standout for filter lovers, while its structure and sweetness also work beautifully in espresso. An exceptional microlot for those seeking clarity and character in the cup.
